Chin liposuction is performed equally on men and on women, and the extent of the operation depends on the individual situation and appearance of the chin. Quite often, our patients are looking for a minimal chin correction, which gives a better shape of the neck and younger, fresher appearance. This procedure is also very efficient method at patients whose chin is quite noticeable. In such cases, we remove a larger amount of the fatty tissue, so the result of the operation is very noticeable, and the improvement is indeed significant.

Who is a Good Candidate for chin Liposuction?

The best candidate for facial liposuction is someone who wishes to remove bothersome pockets of fat but is within 30 percent of their ideal body weight. Age is not a major consideration in chin liposuction procedures, but those with more elastic qualities in their skin can expect to experience better results. For those who do not have elastic skin,. The best way to determine if you are a candidate for chin, neck, jowl, or any other type of facial liposuction procedure is to speak with an experienced surgeon

The procedure

  • Depending on the extent of the procedure, i.e. the amount of the fatty tissue, chin liposuction can be performed under enhanced local or general anesthesia. The surgery is painless and the patient is asleep during the operation.
  • The patient stays in the clinic for 6 hours. It takes about an hour for preoperative preparations, and around one and a half hours for the operation itself after which the patient rests.

Chin Liposuction Recovery

Recovery from facial liposuction is a relatively short process. Patients who have their chin, jowls, or neck treated with liposuction can expect to experience mild discomfort with some bruising or swelling. This should subside in about seven to ten days. Patients may require a few stitches to close the opening made by the cannula (the tube used to break up and remove fatty tissue). Most chin liposuction patients return to normal activities within one week and experience the full benefits of surgery within a three to six month period.
