This procedure is a subtle lifting of the skin of the forehead often combined with some removal of underlying muscle and tissue to give a more youthful appearance to the upper part of the face. Surgery will correct drooping of eyebrows, loose skin and give some improvement to facial lines
Who is a candidate for brow lift surgery?
- low or sagging eyebrows that may result in a tired or sad appearance.
- eyebrows low enough to cause redundant tissue of the upper eyelids (this hooding of eyelid skin can sometimes interfere with raising the upper eyelids.
- deep horizontal creases in the forehead.
- frown lines or vertical furrows between the eyebrows or across the top of the nose which may make you look angry and upset
- In the range of 40 – 60 .
The procedures are
Head will not be shaved and the hair will be tied by a rubber band. For most of the patient a coronal incision will be used, to avoid visible scar. People with receding hairline, the incision will be placed at the hair line, to avoid adding heights to the forehead. The skin of the forehead is lifted and the muscle is released. Excess skin will be trimmed.
What happens after the surgery ?
- There will be mild pain and or headache will respond to pain killer.
- Their might be a numbness and may take some weeks to resolve.
- Bandage will be removed in 2 days after the surgery and stitches after 7 days.
- You will be asked to keep your head elevated for a few days after surgery.
- Avoid strenuous physical activity including sex and heavy work for 2 weeks.
- You can start using water base make up in the second week after surgery.
- Avoid sun exposure until all the bruises disappear.
- By the 3rd week you will feel much better.
- You will be able to go back to work in 2 weeks time
Where will your surgery be done?
The surgery will be done either in a well prepared office, day case unit or in the hospital depending
on the case and type of anesthesia.
What is the type of anesthesia?
Most of brow lift cases can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation, some surgeons
prefer general anesthesia.
